Fire Risk Assessment

The new Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order (RRO) came into force in October 2006. It promotes fire prevention through Risk Assessment.

The RRO affects all non-domestic premises. Employers must carry out a risk assessment which examines the safety in case of fire of all relevant persons. Employers of 5 or more people must document this risk assessment.

The risk assessment helps you to identify risks that can be removed or reduced, and to decide the type and extent of the general fire precautions needed to protect people against the risks that remain.

Failure to comply with the new regulations may result in legal action resulting in a fine or up to 2 years imprisonment.
